At Home Lab Tests Are They Reliable

Ervin Tayun Ervin Tayun

You can now order a lot of lab tests from your couch, a finger-prick or saliva sample mailed to a lab, results in an app a few days later, and it sounds almost too good to be true. The real question people ask is whether these at-home tests are actually reliable, and the answer is a qualified yes, with a few important catches. The tests themselves are usually processed by real, certified labs, and for many common markers, the accuracy is comparable to what you would get at a clinic. The difference is the sample, because a finger-prick blood sample is not the same as a full blood draw, and some tests are simply less reliable from the tiny amount of blood you can squeeze out of a fingertip.
